BTW I'm LTC Dave's WIFE While there are Albums of Ms. Melissa I was disappointed in, Singin' certainly ISN'T one of them! Let me get this straight. . .Reviewer seems to be saying if one is a singer-songWRITER one can only sing one's own compositions? How. . .ridiculous, GOOFY is that? I agree with the other reviewer. I hadn't heard Warmth Of The Sun in YEARS (no turntable in years) but I only needed to see the title for the musical memory to engage. Oh, how wonderful. 1977, it's original release. . .I'm young woman fresh on my own with an A.A. degree. . .No One's Ever Seen This Side of Me, I Wanna Be Where You Are, You Make It Easy, What else does a youngster need to stretch her vocals and warm up a solitary night? Thank goodness this is available again. Thanks Itunes!

MM's cover of "The Warmth of the Sun" is one of those recordings that, when played for unsuspecting listeners, blows them completely away. Before this became available on iTunes, I spent a small fortune to get this CD as an import just to get that track -- not that there is any shortage of other gems here. Her tribute to Sly Stone is fun and full of funky affection, "Time" is moving, and overall the vocal interpretations show that, even if she couldn't write a song to save her life, MM deserved accolades heaped on so many others with half the chops. Also interesting to note is that she made this album to get back to what it was in music that she loves so much, and it shows that she found it in no time. In fairness, I can't comment on the bonus tracks, as they only came out very recently. But why, oh why would "My Boyfriend's Back" get tacked on here? This is NOT the place for a dance record!
