Thank God this album was as great as it was. I got the sense that even though Uplifter was a good album, 311 was on their way out. Then Universal Pulse came out and prove me right(at least I thought so). Stereolithic is a fantastic album. Big comeback from the previous album which quite frankly is the only 311 album I hated. Any true 311 fan couldn't possibly be disappointed in this album. It contains all facets of the 311 sound both old and new.

This album is great! 311 knows what works and sticks with it. Definitely a solid album.
  • Lacks Serious Spirit

I saw a reviewer compare this album to Transistor and that couldn't be further from the truth. I find the comparison laughable. As a fan from the earliest of days, 311 hasn't been able to top their '97 album. There's been many fantastic albums since then but transistor is still the band's crowning achievement. The difference between the two albums is transistor's superior creativity but most importantly...spirit. This has none. I remember listening through it for the the first time and something was off. It's not that the songs were bad it was just missing something that I couldn't put my finger on. After giving it a second listen...it came to me. The album really lacked a genuine spirit and energy. Was incredibly disappointed for the fact that this is a band that attracts people with their spirit and energy. In fact, I would say that there's more spirit in an acoustic Bob Marley song then this entire album. Not even close to their best work. I have it 2 stars...only because there's a few decent songs. The guys need to go back and find their energy.

Best album since evolver in my opinion. It is a very solid album in its entirety. Recommended for any 311 fan, old or new. To be honest Tread on me, uplifter, and universal pulse were ok albums. And to have put an album out like this since those releases is just surreal! Buy it now!!! You won't regret it!

I've loved 311 ever since I was born. I've always liked there hard/funk rock mixed with the "on the beach and riding waves" vibes, you know? But it's getting a little too soft for me. I want a little more hard rock like there old songs like "Down" and "Creatures (For a While)". Nonetheless, it's still a very good album. These guys never disappoint me. 4 1/2 stars if I could.
  • 311 Day Everyday...Again!

Though I downloaded this album the day it was released, for whatever reason I didn't put it on repeat or play it as much as I now realize it has deserved until now. I had just seen them (again) at their most recent local show, and was still sort of just feeling the love from that set list and overall experience, not quite ready to move on to something else completely foreign and/or new. That said, this album has absolutely blown me away, clearly being yet another epic from the seemingly ever-touring band that so many feel personally connected to, with the clear possibility of becoming another classic with just a few more spins! Among the most personally powerful songs, Sand Dollars, Made In The Shade, and Tranquility really stood out. Five of Everything and Frida Afternoon certainly are single-worthy tracks, though, with some great potential! All in all, Stereolithic very well could be 311's highest quality, most significant (perhaps even significantly advanced and/or developed?) album since 2001's From Chaos. We can only hope for continued work of similar extraordinarily high quality from this truly remarkable band.
  • Good album that could have been great.

This album had a lot potential. Where it kind of fell flat with with me was the sound production. This album lacks that punchy and fullness of past 311 albums. Let’s be honest Universal Pulse was kind of weak. I know Chad Sexton (The Drummer) helped mix and master this one and the past one. I think Chad needs to focus on the drums and leave the mixing to the pros. For love of God tighten that snare drum a bit more. It just sounds kind of lame. Other then a couple of sound production complainants it is still good album.
