This is the best album I have listened to in years. The song writing is amazing, the musicianship is off the charts - just totally amazing. Blackberry Smoke will be huge (already are in the U.K., Ireland etc.) and someday Rolling Stone will put this album at the top of whatever stupid list they've come up with, and everyone who already owns the album will say, "Duh!!"

These guys are great! Most "Country" today is sounds more like pop music. I love the songs these guys put out and the guitar sounds awesome. If more country on the radio sounded more like these guys I would listen to it more often.

Love the cd. I first heard of them listening to a famous radio talk show host in my city playing "Good One Comin' on" at straight up 5 o'clock on Friday afternoon. I immediately decided this is the NUMBER ONE Cruisin' home Friday song across America, or at least it should be.

  • One of the best Southern Rock bands

I really like these guys. They are, as others have said, very underrated. This band is, possibly, my second favorite Southern Rock band. This album is a solid blend of country and rock with competent flourishes of both equally. They remind me of a cross between the two other greatest Southern Rock bands in Skynrd and The Black Crowes (my favorite) with a touch of the virtuosity of Zac Brown Band and a bit of The Band. In particular, I love this album because of how much the singer tends to sound like Chris Robinson. Blackberry Smoke helps to supplement my Robinson addiction. Despite the praise, I couldn't be convinced to keep every track. There are a couple of duds/misses on here. The singer has slightly weak vocals at times. I don't know if it's not quite powerful enough, or not quite interesting enough, but every once in a while I just don't feel it and have to throw a song away. Ironically, some of their most popular songs are the weakest in my eyes. Basically, the more Southern Rock/Robinson-like the song, the more likely I am to keep it and rate it higher. In fact, i was almost tempted to keep the throwaways only because of the hints of Robinson's voice in the vocals. The stats are really good on this album. There's three 4 star songs, seven 3 star songs and three throwaways.
  • SOUTHERN ROCK IS ALIVE AND WELL!

Read somewhere that this is the best unknown band out there, and I have to agree. This is Southern Rock in its finest tradition: a blend of rock/n/roll, soul, blues, bluegrass and even a touch of gospel influence. In the great footsteps of bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, .38 Special, Marshall Tucker Band, Levon Helms & the REO All Stars... Blackberry Smoke meets the challenge! Such a great thing to find a new band you love, and this one is it for me. Great diversity in their sound, Charlie Starr's voice is an irresistible raspy velvet, exceptional guitar from the Turner brothers, completed with great drums and keyboard. Why these guys aren't famous is a mystery to me... a great little secret for those in the know! I-TUNES: WHERE IS THE LISTING FOR THE SOUTHERN ROCK GENRE? This category is badly needed... Blackberry Smoke under the country designation just isn't the best description.

It's actually a shame this band isn't as popular as they deserve and should be! Seeing them live was amazing in your face Southern Rock, n I say Southern because of there hard and melodic country twang styled with hard rock. Buy it, and go see them live in a small club near you. Saw them at HoB Hollywood, and wasn't sold out, today bought my tix for there next show on Feb 7 2015, was shocked to find out its at the Troubadour in W/Hollywood. You and I can fill that tiny club with our friends.
