The iTunes "Album Review" above is WAY off! The only thing correct in their review of this "Aretha" album are the first five words: "This is her first album." This is Aretha's debut album for COLUMBIA from February, 1961, NOT her debut album for Arista from October, 1980! The CD version here is nicely expanded from the original LP with TEN bonus cuts/alternate mixes. For fans of Aretha's late-Sixties Queen of Soul era, this album will be quite a shock; Columbia was steering Aretha towards a JAZZ career, even teaming her up with the late-great Ray Bryant. But there ARE two Top 10 Rhythm & Blues hits here: "Today I Sing the Blues" and "Won't Be Long".
