  • Get It!

The follow up to "Jump It" was a rousing collaborated between the team of Franklin & Vandross. "Get It Right" was Aretha's response to "Kitty" and she blew her out w/the track: "Every Girl Wants(My Guy)". Vandross shares. The CD offers Aretha's legendary pipes effortlessly: the Queen is in good vocal form. While this recording didn't receive the type of attention as "Jump To It" it is a good compliment as a follow up CD.

Luther Vandross was at the top of his game when he helped to bring Lady Soul back to hit status and this follow-up effort to "Jump To It" was just what the Queen and her fans needed. Lots of great college memories with these songs come into play when I hear these songs. Her version of "I Wish it Would Rain" is just amazing!! Highly recommended.

I thank Madlib for introducing this album to me. (Not personally...He put 'Every Girl (Wants My Guy)' in his DJ Rels Mix) Side A is the best in my opinion: Funky, soulful compositions by Luther Vandross and Marcus Miller, Aretha Franklin singing in a lower register and Paulinho Da Costa and Yogi Horton's seamless dialogue between percussion and drums, respectively.
