The Gould quartet is the only thing worth getting this disc. I can't say it's played well, but there are few recordings of it so you may as well want this just for the piece. The quartet arraingment of the Goldberg variations doesn't lay well over a quartet situation. If anything the string trio arraignement made popular in the '90s is more suitible. The Catalyst quartetet aimed high, but fell low of their goal. -Bz
