Dois is their greatest album. Although bigger commercial albums would follow, Dois finds the band expanding their horizons and textures while preserving the nocturnal spirit of their sound. Still playing out aggressively at times, Joy Division is a obvious influence but it is The Smiths that best fit the description, the melodies begin to take shape and define their later sound. At the same time, Renato Russo reached a new level of songwriting. An album for the ages with literally no down turns.
