I really thought her last album with Elton was great. This is pretty good but not on par with that.

Brandi once again delivers a powerful album. Her ability to go from hard pounding rock to the most sensitive ballads is unmatched. Brava!

I loved the original release of Returning to Myself, but this “sad gay version” hits differently. There’s an emotionality woven through these songs that feels even more exposed and vulnerable, and Brandi’s beautiful voice absolutely bursts through. And while the emotion is front and center, so are the clever words and brilliant songwriting. The lyrics have room to breathe, and you can really appreciate the craft behind them. The Brandi Carlile Band’s music has evolved so much over the years. It’s not better or worse, it’s different. And honestly, I’m here for every version of it. This one feels raw, beautiful, heartbreaking, hopeful, and unmistakably Brandi. And I’m very happy to be along for the ride.

I will forever miss the Brandi & twins that used to be…those first few albums were incredible. Everything since is missing that spark.
