Buy the whole thing so you get Mary Don't You Take Me, with its extended jam. On all of the songs, you can hear the Steve Jordan drum sound. You can also hear the homage to the Willie Mitchell/Al Green sound on several cuts. Although the albums of standards that Boz put out were pretty good, this one goes back to the mix of rock and soul that Boz recorded pre - Silk Degrees, and the results are outstanding.

It was easy to dismiss Boz when he was trying to be a pop star back in the 1970's. I did. I didn't hear him again until the mid-90's, and his blues album Come On Home. While not strickly blues, Boz put together a very appealing set of songs for Memphis. He doesn't try to do anything outside his vocal abilities, which I appreciate. I had some reservations when I saw Rainy Night in Georgia listed. Brook Benton's version was so signature I wouldn't have even thought to include it. But Boz pulls it off effortlessly. Combine his smooth style and mature sensibility with top-notch musicians and solid songs, and you have a thoroughly enjoyable album from start to fininish. I could have lived without the "bonus track", but overall this is so strong that it's easy to overlook it. Buy it, and everyone will be commenting on your good taste.

Impressive album that stands tall on its own merit, but is every bit as good as Silk Degrees. This is artist that has always been comfortable in his own skin and that really shines through on this effort. Perhaps the most amazing part of it is that he makes it somehow feel so effortless on his part. Buy this if you are a fan. If you are not a fan buy it, you will be.

He's back!!!! Best album since the 1970's. Saw him last night in Austin and was blown away. Voice like silk and soul personified. Loved Cadillac Walk. Had to get up and dance. I usually don't like musicians making a turn in a different direction when I am going to hear the music that made them but he "hit it dead on." Keep up the good work. If you dont like this album something is wrong. Bobbie C.

OMG... I remember when I got hipped to Boz Scaggs was in the 70s, the radio was jamming his cut called "Dirty Low Down". It had crossed over to the R&B radio stations. that was pretty much it, but now in 2013 I really started to appreciated this muscial talent like never before. His voice has always been very unique to me. To the the music lovers out there... this Memphis cd is off the charts. He rocks from the begining to the end with even some old R&B classics that is superb. All I got to say is is well worth your time those who appreciate GOOD MUSIC.

Just saw his concert in Napa where he sang all of his new songs and some old ones. His voice sounds so much richer than ever before. I downloaded the Memphis album and it sounds as good as he did in concert.
