  • The Chopin Collection

If Chopin could have a found his muse in a perfect cellist,it would be Sara. No one could capture the ephemeral balance of lyricism and fire like she can. As a classical pianist and film composer I have had the honor of Sara playing some of my Preludes for piano and cello,so in my own way I can imagine how grateful and fulfilled the great Maestro would have been. I cannot passionately recommend this wonderful recording enough, and together with Robert Koenig's exquisite accompaniment,it is a masterwork. Most sincerely, Paul Cantelon

A wonderful production by Sant'Ambrogio and Koenig, easily enjoyed by seasoned classical listeners and newcomers alike. Sant'Ambrogio gives a rich, warm, and emotional performance that flows beautifully with the accompanist. Waltz, Op. 64 No. 2 is a particular favorite. Excellent performance from both artists and a welcome addition addition to my collection.

WOW Sara Sant'Ambrogio has done it again...this may be her best solo album yet. You won't believe your ears, her tone is so magnificent, just heart breakingly gorgeous. Robert Koenig has a melting, beautiful tone on the piano and they play like one person, it's uncanny! For those who are already familiar with this music, you will be blown away by the freshness they both bring to the music...it's by far the best interpretation of these pieces I have ever heard. There are also some very cool new arrangements that you won't find anywhere else. This is also the perfect music to woo a new love- so put this album on, pour some vino, light the candles- you will definitely score! You must get the CHOPIN album ASAP!!!

This treatment of Chopin’s works is extremely valuable study for any pianist. To hear his rich lyricism in this medium gives us pianists deeper insight into how to shape these exquisite lines, and I can think of no one better than Sant’Ambrogio to teach us this. Her depth of tone and soulful playing is unmatched.

There is truly nothing more beautiful than Sara Sant'Ambrogio's tone and phrasing...and it is such a gift that she has chosen to play Chopin.

The first time listening to the Sonata Op. 65: III. Largo I knew I wanted to hear the rest of the album. And the enchantment continued. Ms. Sant'Ambrogio's devotion to each note creates a transcendent experience. Every time I push play my pulse quickens in anticipation of the extraordinary.

Ms. Sant'Ambrogio has once again hit the nail on the head with her glorious sound and musical style. Whether you're a classical music novice or connoisseur, be prepared to be completely entranced by this exquisite album. I was engulfed in the raw emotion of every track and literally could not stop listening. Truly a work of art!
  • Passion and Perfection

Sant'Ambrogio and Koenig both have amazing classical pedigrees, but they play with the passion and beauty which Chopin intended for these soulful works. The Etudes, the Waltz, and especially the Largo of the Sonata are moving enough to fill your heart with both tears and joy. The Polonaise Brillante is fantastic. The production is the perfect mix of intimacy (you can occasionally hear the cellist's subtle bow movements and breathing) and the natural resonance that would have occurred in the halls of Chopin's time. If you want to know Chopin, buy this album - you will want every track! Only wish is that there were a few more tracks.

Material this great doesn't always guarantee a successful endeavor, but this duo has both the chops and also the soul of what one would guess the composer intended. A brilliant project!
