Best guitar I’ve ever heard

Just heard this for the first time and was blown away by the talent of this guitar player. Brings back memories of older fusion artists that left me open mouthed. GREAT work thouroughly enjoyed this music would reccomend it to anyone that loves great guitar and band work. Vai Dimeola, Mclaughlin now Govan!

This man is my god, I much prefer him. His playing is absolutely flawless and beautiful. My favorite off this album is Waves, It has a lot of sliding around and is very fluid and milky.

This is the best instrument record ever created. Guthrie is the most humble person you will ever meet.

No one else like this guy

A refreshing change of pace from typical instrumental guitar cds by my new favorite guitarist. clean mixing and layered well. Features moments of fast runs but they only complement his solid song structure and melody. There is also a variety of emotion felt throughout; songs like waves and wonderful slippery thing are fun and take twists you wouldn't expect. Songs like hangover and Eric are real contemplative and pensive. Touches the soul. You should buy this if you are interested in opening the door to jazz/ shred fusion type music or just want to hear something different.

I gave this album a first listen on my drive in to work, and almost ran off the road. I'm not kidding. I'm a huge fan of shred/instrumental rock and I listen to all the greats; i.e. Vai, Malmsteen, Satch, all the Shrapnel guys, etc.. I have never heard a better guitarist ever. Every track is great, every note perfect. Guthrie can blaze, but this is no noodlefest. The melodies are strong, he commands a variety of tones all flawless, the tunes are musically interesting, and even the bass playing is fantastic. What a guitarist!!

Guthrie Govan is quite simply the world's greatest guitarist. In a class of his own, Guthrie shines through in his debut album with unparalleled musicianship and an unreal sense of melody. He has the chops to go toe-to-toe with any technical shredder, and he also has the improvisational skills to match any jazz player. Erotic Cakes is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I cannot recommend it enough to not just guitar players, but also to anyone who is remotely interested in hearing what truely GOOD music should sound like. It simply doesn't get any better than this!
