There are no songs to skip in this album. This is Barbra's best.

I absolutely love Barbra Streisand. I have been listening to her since I was 11 and I am 45. Seen her in concert. Have most of her albums. Must say this album seemed almost monotone, boring. Not sure there was even 1 high note. Sorry, Barbra -

This album is perfect for those lazy Sunday mornings with a cup of coffee, a fire in the fireplace and your favorite loved one cuddled up next to you. I wouldn't call myself a huge Barbra Streisand fan, but I can't stop playing this album!
  • I'm disappointed

Wow! I was expecting much more. Barbra has lost her range and depth. Nothing like her soaring vocals of prior years. I hope she doesn't do a Sinatra and keep trying............

It seems Barbara is in need of some musical inspiration. She must have been thumbing through some of her old jazz albums when she was trying to figure out what to record on this project. She must have ran across her copy of Shirley Horn's "Here's to Life." If you would like to hear several of the songs on this album, including the cover title, suberbly sung, check out the abovementioned recording. Barbara's renditions are alright, but Shirley's will go straight to your heart and bring tears to your eyes.
  • Streisand, the Jazz Ballad Singer

This album seems to owe much to Diana Krall, one of its principle collaborators. In turn, its roots in jazz balladry and lush arrangements by Johnny Mandel give it an affinity to Shirely Horn's masterpiece, Here's to Life, also arranged by Mandel.

OK, full disclosure: I am not a fan. I managed to get all the way to 55 years old ignoring Ms. Streisand. I read an article in the NYT mentioning this recording and it sounded interesting. It is much better than that. The songs are terrific, her voice is great and her phrasing is captivating. I am willing to stipulate that she has been wonderfull all along. I finally noticed. You will love this. Buy it!

So nice to hear Babs go back to her roots of classics. While the cd is highly orchestrated, it is not overproduced as some of her recent albums have been. The choice of songs on this is flawless, and I love the new mellow quality of her voice now.

This is a good album. Its a bit boring, but, consideing her age, Ms Streisands voice, is a thing of amazement. If your looking for an Evergreen, People, or Stoney End, on here, you won't find it. Am I sorry I bought it? No, i got it used for about 5 bucks. Is it worth the $5? Sure! I don't know if i would be happy if i paid 12 for a full cd, or the Itunes download tho. IT doesn't deserve repeated listens, all the way through. IT will however work well on shuffle with my other 10000 songs.
