Possibly a hair better than the previous release

I suppose this counts as an EP, even though it’s only shorter than the previous album by 2 songs. Notorious had 2 great tracks (Title Track and Ready for War) and a few decent tracks (Vibes, Trapped). Whereas somehow this EP has 3 good tracks (Drifting, Still Hungry and Black Diamond) and a decent track (Like a Disease), although the bridge for Can’t Say Goodbye is pretty solid.
Adelitas Way excels at rock, which is why their heavier songs tend to be hits instead of their ballads (Sick, Criticize, Notorious, etc.). They have had some solid slow(ish) songs in the past, such as All Falls Down, Hurt and Undivided, but a lot of their weakest catalogue also falls under this. The title track and Can’t Say Goodbye aren’t very good, and Get It On sounds like a cover of a Backstreet Boys/Rick Astley Mashup, not as an insult, it genuinely sounds like that.
It may be due to budget that more songs can’t be recorded and the duds be discarded/collected into a bonus album, but the last two releases as a whole aren’t quite up to par with what the band is capable of. I really do enjoy their music and I’m hoping they become more popular, but the slower songs that sound like they’re made for radio aren’t working. If there were fewer of the, this would be less of a problem.
Still, it’s worth picking up Drifting, Still Hungry and Black Diamond. I’m looking forward to the bands next release which will hopefully contain a few heavier tracks. Not bad for an EP though.
