Chances are you’re here because you loved December and Illuminate. This album like the last few keeps moving away from the band we fell in love with. Leighton continues a journey towards an alternative poppy rock. Still decent in a different way but it’s hipster shopping mall background music compared to the way Lydia used to make you feel.

Goodside is such an amazing song. One of Lydia’s best, unfortunately that’s where the magic ends on this album. The rest of the songs are not put together well and often leave you confused as to why the song went in the direction that it did. I’m sure the band is just trying to be a little more “creative” and less cookie cutter sounding and they did accomplish that but at the cost of sacrificing a pleasurable listening experience. Most of the songs start like a movie you know you want to love, so you are super into it, and then something super weird happens that changes the mood and completely throws you out of the experience and then you’re just stuck wondering why?

Its no Run Wild, but its very close. Loving it

Good album, Leighton is definitely continuing with more of the pop style here. I can’t help but miss the “This December/Illuminate” early days of the band though. Redeeming tracks however for me include “Goodside” and the closer “Way Out.” Decent overall but I hope the next album is closer to their old style..
