  • Good Performance, So-So Video

    By Rick Shim
The actual performance is great but the video has some very distracting jump cuts in the middle of the performance. It seems pretty clear that some sections of the song are missing. If you think you can deal with that, then go for it. Otherwise, save your money.
  • There's a reason they call him King of the Blues

BB's in fine form in this performance. There is no guitarist so expressive and emotive in their playing. Lucille's voice is like an extension of his own. This IS the blues - you young players take note. I enjoy the subtle cues, both in playing and visual signals, he passes to his drummer to accellerate the tempo. The only shortcomings this video has are. the version is too short (I'd prefer 8 minutes or more) and the video jumps out of sync. (In fairness, the sync issue could be my ancient processor) More wide shots of the whole band and close ups of Mr. Kings hands would be appreciated as well. Even with it's shortcomings, it's BB King man. He's the best and all five stars are well-deserved. If you love the blues, google up BB King's website.
