It's beatufiul, but it doesn't even live up to the title. Nos. 19-20 are absent.

HJ Lim has a phenomenal technique. Her interpretive skill regarding these great masterpieces of Beethoven leaves alot to be desired. She plays these works much too fast and looses all perspective. The ridiculous tempi she employs converts the sonatas into cartoon music. Listeners who want to hear serious interpretations of the sonatas should try Claudio Arrau and/or Alfred Brendel. They are masters of Beethoven. They are not interested in breaking speed records and trivializing these great works. HJ should have listened to them before embarking on this recording.

After browsing over iTunes this is one of my favorite pianist renditions of Beethoven. Unique and pleasing. Especially Sonata # 14 Opus 27 No. 2.
  • Not how I would play these pieces

I am not a professional pianist, but I have spent many many hours working at learning various Beethoven sonatas for my own personal enjoyment. I did not find HJ Lim’s interpretation of the Moonlight Sonata to be at all inspiring. I have just purchased these recordings this afternoon and will certainly enjoy the opportunity to listen to them. For the price, it is not a bad deal. Reminds me of when I purchased the Dresden Philharmonic complete set of Beethoven symphonies for a few bucks. The recordings may not be the greatest versions, but for one who wishes to have them to understand the flow of a particular sonata, these will be helpful. So, it’s OK, but from the early returns, I don’t know how much ear time I will give these.

This is a very powerful effort on the artist part. She hits the notes, gives some personal interpretation to each part, and then she let the producer and recording engineer fail her by having the “Live” echo effect sound like she is on an empty stage. Her daring is cut short by the recording itself.

A very good interpretation of Beethoven's piano sonatas, and the only complete version in the price range I hoped to pay!

Sammy. Lim is great,in her own way. Only time will say how great she is,on these complete sonatas. She's differently beautifull.
