Working in retail, you can imagine how I feel about Christmas music. However, Coldplay never fails to deliver wonderful music even around the holidays. It’s a perfect blend of sadness and hope with nice acoustics and piano. The best thing is the originality without pandering to the holiday hype or just doing another cover of an old song that forty other artists already did. Really worth a listen.

I'd like to say that Coldplay never fails to impress, and this Christmas themed song just proves that! I don't like most Christmas songs besides the classics, but this one is a HUGE exception! Keep it up Coldplay!!!

This HAS to be one of the best Christmas-themed melodies EVER. It starts off with a beautiful piano refrain that is repeated throughout this song. Unfortunately, the first time around, it is followed up by a slightly repulsive verse melody (with stylings from Taylor Swift?), beginning the all-too-retold tale of holiday jiltings. (Remember "Last Christmas" and "Greensleeves?") Fortunately, as soon as the music picks up, so does the rest of the song. It takes on a lovely character from an acoustic guitar melody, as well as, later on in the song, a mixture of orchestral strings and piano, with a bit of electric guitar thrown in. The sung melody also improves greatly, becoming more reminiscent of something from Viva la Vida, or Death and All of His Friends. This the sum of the matter: This dirge-turned-Merry-Christmas-wish is, with the above-mentioned exception, a fully satisfying and eloquent piece of music that your soul will be totally unable to reserve for the holiday season.
