Both JB&S live albums are amazing! I can't pick a favorite, they're just snapshots of different times in J's life, warts & all. The energy on this one is incredible. The cover of Song For You is a great inclusion! Get all Jason's albums & go to every live show within 200 miles, this band is that good. One note on the live albums, this one has Jeremy Watkins on fiddle, High In The Rockies has Noah Jefferies. Both are great players & overall I felt like Jeremy was the perfect guy for this album (Dana Hazzard had recently left to form the band Hazzard, their album, Choices, is excellent), but overall I enjoyed Noah's work just a bit more, otherwise I can find no basis to say that one live album is better than the other. This one stands out because of the balls to the wall recklessness the whole band was living at the time. It comes through in the music. HITR is a more mature, calmer, band. Like I said, snapshots. The only Live At Billy Bobs records that are in the same ballpark with this one are Micky & The Motorcars from 2009 & Jackson Taylor & The Sinners from this year, and Jason's lyrical process gives him the edge, so I'm gonna say this is the greatest album in the series.

Was totally not surprised to find this was a Texas band & they already had 6 CD's out before I actually had heard of them! Texans know good country music before the rest of us catch on (Pat Green, Eli Young Band, the Randy Rogers Band). I am totally captivated by this bands sound and Jasons voice. I really hope Nashville hears them and reacts the same way their fans do, we want more!! Would love to see them become famous and do the whole "George Strait" thing!

Wether your an okie or texan you will enjoy this album tremendously. It's a fitting album for you if your from this part of the country and you are in fact "country".

This album is classic. Have never grown tired of it since I first heard it so many years ago. Not many albums I can say that for in any genre of music.
  • Jason is to Country, Like Slayer is to Metal

I mix (professional audio engineer) and listen to a wide variety of music... Mainly Metal. However, I love Country Western music as well. I cant stand this new crap they call country on the radio... it isnt country, its glorified pop crap. When I was personally introduced to Jason... I was sold. His music reminds me of the old Country Weston like Marty Robins, Original Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash. He really hits it home like country is meant to hit. There are two albums on my iPod that is played the most... Slayer - South Of Heaven... and you guessed it... Jason Boland Live At Billy Bobs!

to the one that said this is great red dirt music. it sounds nothing like red dirt. boland is about as honky tonk as they come. and as for you okies, get over it. it started in texas and thats what it is. it dont matter if he is from OK or NY. Corb Lund is from freakin Canada and i have even heard him describe his music as texas country sound.

I hate to break it to you J-Bone but Stoney was born in Taft, Texas. And Cross calls Stillwater north Austin. You see where their heart lies.
