All My Friends Are Enemies: Early Rarities

Highly recommended even if you are a casual listener of Say Anything. It's a collection of their early material that sounds raw and spirited, more of a late 90s punk sound, a little less bombastic than they became later. So many of the songs are brilliant, like so much of their later work, but it's even more appreciable knowing Max was a teenager when they were written and recorded. My favorites are All My Friends, I want to know your plans, Last great punk rock sing, and Until the bombs, but really the entire collection is awesome

Bemis is a beast, best in the genre for sure. His music was what I listened to growing up

All the tracks that got me loving Say Anything and a few I was shocked to find I'd never heard before! A must have!

Worth every penny...if you love everything Say Anything this album will not disappoint. Full of songs with that early sound that made me love them the first time I heard them

I don't usually buy anything on itunes but this is well worth every cent. An excellent of songs by them.

If you didn't already have these songs then you couldn't exactly call yourself a fan but I'm glad that Max has now acknowledged his past because he used to ignore it and would never play any of these songs. Maybe A Walk Through Hell here and there.

Let me just start by saying that, as much as I'd love to say I knew all these songs before, I didn't. I was aware of them, however the fact that they were not available to buy made it hard for me to hear them. Now that this set has been made, though, it is easy for anyone to get a hold of the music that some consider Max Bemis' best work to date. The whole set is 45 tracks of angsty punk goodness, with some traces of the sound Say Anything eventually grew to adapt (heard most prominently in "A Walk Through Hell"). Almost as amazing as the songs themselves, the liner notes have some personal thoughts about the records, written by Max himself, guiding you through the early years of his songwriting. Standout tracks include, "Colorblind," "All My Friends," "Mackdaddy," "A Walk Through Hell," "I Want To Know Your Plans," and, "Anti-Anti," although they are all very strong. This compilation is the perfect gift from Max to the fans. If you are a fan of low fi punk rock, buy this. If you are a fan of Say Anything, buy this. Overall I am very pleased.
