Just listened to the newly remastered version of Classical Barbra and it is a gem. One of Streisand's most overlooked albums, it was not a commercial success and was notable to many fans for the spectacular cover photographs by Scavullo. But this album stands the test of time and sounds better than ever. It is a quiet album, relaxing to listen to. Only one song is in English, yet even without understanding the lyrics one is transported by the purity and clarity of Streisand's vocals. There are two previously unreleased beauties by Schubert, a bit more uptempo from the rest of the album. A wholly satisfying effort by our generation's most celebrated female vocalist. Highly recommended.
