For mello relaxation

I love Dave's acoustic stylings for this album. This isn't exactly DMB setting the stage on fire, as they did long ago. This album is for people who appreciate Dave's artistry, and of course the beautiful sound of his talented band backing him up.
Dave the great!!!
Love love love this album it's everything kinda mixed together some old Dave some new and just wonderful!!!
Uninspired and dull
I've enjoyed every studio album DMB has released until this one. There is just no energy and it really does feel like they are going through the motions like other reviewers stated. It's like an album full of the most "meh" songs of their other albums. I am truly hoping they get it together next time around because I am a huge fan of the band!
So Much To Say is now So Sad To Say
I still love DMB, but this is the first album that I've chosen not to purchase...I think it will work well in an elevator. I got a couple free songs through Warehouse - "Gaucho" & "If Only", they're OK. Gaucho was awesome live, but DMB is awesome live, so no surprise there. I think this is the result of children, since there's definitely a parallel here to going to bed at 8pm...boring.
The boys still have it! The live tracks are my favorite on the deluxe version. Especially since I was at the Sweet debut!! Live Dave>Studio Dave both are great but live is my favorite! :)
IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANY COLLECTION!!!!

Away From The World

Best album EVER!! I put it on and listen from start to finish, every time. DBM is my favorite band, this is my favorite album.
Just not the same anymore...
but still my favorite band of all time. Leroi's passing seems to have been a crucial turning point for the band. No disrespect to Jeff, but since Leroi has been gone, the band has been largely a disappointment.
Popularity ratings are wacked. Definitely the best five songs on this album are as follows:
1. The Riff
2. Drunken Soldier
3. Broken Things
5. Belly Belly Nice
Happy to see DMB back with the producer that put them on the map! I finally feel like the DMB sound is beginning to come BACK full circle. I think EVERYONE - even DMB faithful - were beginning to get a little sick of seeing yet another guy strumming a box guitar wearing a beanie jamming Crash, Crush, and Space Between in every bar in America! Holy Moly! I was one of those guys myself until I remembered that there are other artists to listen to (and I don't mean the DMB rip off's - you know who they are). However, on this effort DMB creates a little magic with Lillywhite i.e. Gaucho, Sweet, The Riff, and Broken Things…They scream the 1990's sound that made them GREAT! They also added a little twist to their sound by sticking more with the low timber horn & sax - it's reminiscent of Don't Drink the Water but with a twist. Remember, DMB lost a member - so things have probably been tough and the constant FAME & FORTUNE can steal away the PAIN that makes for great songwriting. ALL IN ALL - B+
