I like the voices in Il Divo. Some I'd like to hear solo. That's the problem. From the title song to Stay [the one by Shakespear's Sister] these have all been sung by equally talented and uniques voices such as Chris Isaak [Wicked Games] or Ewan McGregor [Come What May as counterpoint to Roxanne—devastating!] But these productions here homogenize such gifts into embalmed, overstuffed pretension that changes all the lyrics to Italian like somebody's idea of opera and drags tempo to sound like somebody's idea of classical. Pretensions that forbid elegant accompaniment by 1 or 2 instruments lest the background music become distinguishable.Pretensions that lull listeners into watered down versions of world-changing talent as well as the art simulated, that sell easily because they never challenge, never thrill. This sonic beige is called tasteful because it has no taste, no smell; it just lies there, thinking of England. Test yourself a little by trying an album of popular tenor arias; look up these songs here in their original, unfettered performances, relax to authentically classical works by Chopin, Mozart, or Satie. Have a little fun with Google finding "torch singer" or "cello and marimba" songs that are personal, beautiful, and otherwise hidden here because they don't fit a pre-ordained genre that sells easily, like pop. Listen to the piece for longer than 10 seconds before fast forwarding in search of the familiar Gerber's that 's crammed into your ear by targeted advertising from the minute you first buy Il Divo or Like a page on Facebook. And if you still find nothing as good, come back, and, for Il Divo's sake, demand that each of them be allowed to release a solo album without Clive Davis forcing them into teeny bopper pop dance formulas. Fight the pernicious marketing that drowns you in mindless noise that drove you to Il Divo in the first place. It'll be fun.

Saw their concert in NYC 5/29/12 promoting Wicked Game. This album does not disappoint! Their vocalizations, harmonies and ability to reach the depths and heights of each musical score brings tears to the eyes. Wicked Game in my view is their best album yet.

Their voices have always been outstanding, but the arrangements on their records are so tacky usually. Just like Katherine Jenkins--fantastic potential, horrible production. They neutered "Time To Say Goodbye" just like she did, e.g. Zero drama. Zero elation in the way they sang it. For a truly breathtaking "populist" classical experience try Sarah Brightman's "Time To Say Goodbye." It's a 15-year old record and its still the best in its class. Or Hayley Westenra or one of Andrea Bocelli's earlier records.

I have purchased every album released by Il Divo, and traveled great distances several times to see them in concert. Even though I don't understand most of the words they sing, their music lifts my soul--especially the soaring voice of Carlos. I just wish they would record an entire album in English. -- Judy

Ok, I'll admit, I perfer hard rock/heavy metal, and rap/hip hop over classical/opera, but these guys are AMAZING! If you're new to this style of music (like myself), I would recomend listening to their songs in English first so you can get an idea of what they sound like. The songs I recomend for someone new to them would be Wicked Game, Mama, and Ti Amore. I really enjoy their music
