I first discovered the new Numan, when I heard the ending credits song in Dark City, Dark. Fear factory reminded us that he was still there, when the did the cover/duo with him, of "cars". The man has not stopped for a long time, and he just keeps getting better. If you ever get the chance DO see him live. This man rocks harder now, than most half his age. I just saw him live, and cannot wait to get more. His performance of older songs was stellar. This is not the Gar NUman of the 80's. This is better.I could roll in this sound. Every song, is it's own thing, and I savor them. Just do it.

Finally! Numans first album in 17 years that isnt about how much he hates god/being athiest. You know, I find that Numan makes good music but a lot of his newer albums are enjoied in short burst, or listing to one song at a time. A lot of his newer material is a bit repetitive, but not this album! I enjoyed it very much. Numan gets rid of all the unnescarry sound effects to let the songs breathe a bit. Very heavy and dark sounding, but still very clear at the same time. this is right up there with the pleasure principle and replicas, very numan-sounding. you wont regret buying it. :)

Some remarkable tracks, notably "For The Rest Of My Life", which gets five stars. Numan at his brilliant best. If he would only take the essence of this sound, which is the synthesis of mood, tonality, menace, and contemplation, and incorporate it into his next works.

If you're looking for the depth of Exile, Hybrid or Pure you'll be somewhat disappointed as I was. But still a welcome addition to my Numan rotation and will get a lot of play on my earbuds.

You've got a problem with God, Jesus, the Bible, whatever. Regardless of your consistent feelings of angst towards christianity, this album totally rocks. So much tighter and cleaner than old Numan, with some serious thought put into thie overall feel and flow of the album. Well done my dark, moody, friend. Well done.

A very impressive collage of varied atmospheres, based on unreleased demos from prior albums, in an exquisite modern production unlike anything coming from Numan so far. Fuzzy guitars erupt on beat at strategic moments whilst escaping back to allow for arabesque levities and various oddities to intercede. Numan’s trademark vocals narrate the mood of the sung melodies throughout, from high to low. Muted uneasy backgrounds pepper every piece as introductions, interludes and as fading coda in classic fashion. The instrumentals are filmic and well layered. The two reprisals are far from redundant and further add to the mood of this album. Relevant and powerful, this album is a presage of the promise of “Splinter” to come out in 2012. Newcomers to Numan’s music will discover evidence of a huge influence on subsequent pioneers inspired by his work and, in return, their contributive influence on him as well. This gets five stars!

I love both the early and later Numan albums, with a slight preference to early. This sounds exactly like what Numan should be about right now. Great rockers like "The Fall" and "Big Noise Transmission" along with achingly beautiful tracks like "For The Rest Of My Life" and "Not The Love We Dream Of". What's more, this feels like a complete album with pace and flow from track to track. It's impeccably produced, and Numan's vocals are mixed clear and up front where they should be. Everything Numan and Fenton achieved on "Jagged" now feels like they were only warming up for this masterpiece. If they bring this kind of confidence and swagger to "Splinter", I've no doubt they'll top themselves again. Excellent album, and my new favorite of the year.

Most well produced Gary Numan album in a long while. The electronics are complex, the songs are well orchestrated and emotional. It puts a dark cloud over your head that stays with you all day. I know that doesn't sound all that pleasant, but the album is great for contemplative thoughts and those introverted moments in your life.
