The funny thing is, this was released on Halloween. Micheal Myers and ghostface are NOTHING compared to this horror.

Lou Reed’s vocals and Metallica’s loud music in the background sound absolutely horrible together, they don’t work together.
  • Either you feel it, or don't

There's some filler, and there's some stuff that is magical. But in both cases, it doesn't sound like "Lou Reed" or "Metallica", so by default fans of both acts will be initially disappointed. "Junior Dad" alone makes the album worthwhile. If you lost your dad, it'll hit you hard.

A lot of supiericial 1 star reviews. Its easy to crap on something. Lulu is not only a character from a Frank Wedekind play (also Louise Brooks in Pandora's Box), its also what Lou's fellow Velvets used to call him when he was being ornery. Lou obviously had a lot of anger, and he needed a harsh sounding band to get this one out. Metallica were game. They both knew their fans & critics would hate it. But Lou could care less about pleasing Metallica fans. Or his own. All he had for the critics was a middle finger. This is his last album, where Reed tears the face off his demons and looks them in the eye. The final song, Junior Dad is the sound of him letting it all go. Lulu is a devastating, relentless and brilliant album. His most uncompromising work along with Berlin and Metal Machine Music.. The witless and faint of heart need not apply.
