He states in public that he's the CSO's "caretaker" conductor. After hearing this recording of Strauss one would hope he'd be intalled their music director for life! The CSO obey his every command in Strauss's ode to himself. Suptuious and disiplined, one is swept away with this reading. The sound thoughout is nothing short of stellar. The Webern piece, while not his finest, fits in well to round off the disc. Recommened indeed! -Bz
