It sounds like the background track for the song because it is the background track for the song. When people record songs, the final product is a bunch of tracks layered together. To make the karaoke version they just take out the featured singers.

This is really great since they sound like the backing of the actual glee song versions! Highly recommended, I hope they uppload all the songs!
