Properly performed and deeply spiritual

I have always been moved by Negro Spirituals (I am NOT politically correct). This one of the moving experiences I have ever had. I grew up in Atlanta in the 50's and am well aware of the political forces that hindered her career and kept from the world one of the most glorious contralto voices. She did, however, pave the way for the next generation. She often visited Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr at Ebernezer Baptist Church and and sang (They didn't even make whites sit in the back of the church!). Stygian is the only adjective to describe her contralto voice (or was she a tenor). The is a landmark recording and is highly recommended
