A classic

I first heard Candy Flip on the radio with their cover of Strawberry Fields Forever. I bought the single, which featured the even more impressive instrumental Rhythm Of Love, motivating me to buy the full album. In "madstock", I discovered a collection of songs both melodic and nuanced, catchy and sophisticated--a decidedly dance album with a hint of soul, a dash of funk, and a pinch of pop. Twenty years after its release, this album remains one of the freshest in my vast collection. It's unfortunate that this group never produced another album, but fans despair not; two of its three members continue to work as Sound 5 and, more recently, Soul Mekanik.
