A Welcome Addition to the Philharmonic's Recordings

The entire Mahler series is very, very good. If these recordings mark the end of the bland, boring period of releases on DG Concerts, then I say – thank goodness! If this is the Philharmonic's response to the self-produced recordings that orchestras such as London, Chicago and San Fran have been releasing for years, then I say – give us more! It’s exciting to hear the power and energy of the orchestra back in their recordings again.
In particular, I love this recording of Mahler 3. The brass sounds incredible throughout (especially the horns). Anna Larsson and the choruses are also very good. Maazel shines from beginning to end. I have listened to the entire series. So far, Mahler 3, Mahler 6 and Mahler 7 are my favorites.
