Finally!!! Now I can get rid of my cassette tape of this album. I've been looking for this music on CD & ITunes for years. This album represents, Stacy, no longer being a little girl without relationship experiences, so the innocence is gone, replaced by hurt. I guess the record company wanted to be 13 forever. Anyway, It's the only Stacy Lattisaw album, I enjoyed playing from beginning to end, again & again. Her other albums were uneven & had like 1 hit (those I could find on CD). So just buy her Greatest Hits, which doesn't include anything from this album - then you'll have an entire collection of all her best songs. Both Natalie Cole (1989 Good To Be Back) & Dionne Warwick (1981 Hot! Live & Otherwise) covered, "Starting Over Again" on this album. And she recently, this week released a book by the same name: "I'm Not The Same Girl" which today's young girl heartache song i.e. Selena Gomez's "Who Says", Orianthi's "According To You", etc. Stacy just released a book, called "I'm Not The Same Girl" so although the album didn't sell it gave her a life experience strong enough to walk away from it all while still on top, "Where Do We Go From Here" with Johnny Gill was #1, as oppose to turning to drugs like Whitney. Michael Masser, composed many songs for Stacy (she started at 9, first album at 13) then Whitney with those same high notes that's why they sound similar, but Stacy walked away when Whitney was coming into the spotlight. Whitney is actually 3 years older (born 08/26/1963) than Stacy (born 11/25/1966). Like Stacy said on The Monique Show, "God put his hands on her & kept her" and I'm certain he's doing the same for Whitney.

  • Not Stacy

Many fans had stated that this was her worst album (even Stacy saying it herself), but after listening to the tracks myself, they were right. These songs were not for her, but it was forced down her throat. Only the title track stands out, but as for the rest of the songs (in Stacy's words), they were Whitney Houston rejects. Her previous albums were good to outstanding, but this was what closed the deal with Collition records before her re-jumpstart in her career when she moved to motown records in 1986. It is a shame that this album is available on itunes, and her next album Take Me All The Way is the only Stacy Lattisaw album not on itunes. C'mon itunes, step it up!!

I forgot how good this entire album was!!! I had (for years) been searching for a CD or downloadable version of the single song "I'm Not the Same Girl" (because I only had the vinyl album). I listening to these song previews, I realized how much I had actually enjoyed the ENTIRE album, not just the title track. All the songs are winners. Amazing that great albums like this didn't sell well initially. Oh well ... I'M SO HAPPY NOW!!!

I'm Not The Same Girl is one of my favorite Stacy Lattisaw albums. Every song is good from beginning to the end. It includes upbeat songs such as "Coming Alive," "Toughen Up" and "Can't Stop Thinking About You" and the ballads "He's Just Not You," "Now We're Starting Over Again," and a cover of Diana Ross' "I Thought it Took A Little Time." This is a good album and if you're a Stacy Lattisaw fanatic, I totally recommend this!!
