Kingrealbean, this is a true story of Holocaust fighters and survivors. The movie was great and I really enjoyed the score. Matched the movie well.

One of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long time. Beautiful music that matches the emotions of the movie very well. Buy this soundtrack! ...and to the person who said they didn't know if this took place during the Holocaust; Germans killing Jews.... failed history did we?

I love James Newton Howards film scores--from "the Village" to "I Am Legend" to "Blood Diamond," they are among the best of all time--and the score for "Defiance" is no exception. I won't say that it is completely original--many sections of this score sound very familiar to his score for "The Village." But since this story is essentially a true story "Village," it makes sense. So although it sounds familiar, it was still an incredible mood enhancement to the movie, and is great to listen to on its own as well.
  • stunning and powerful, yet derivative

James Howard captures the emotions with his exquisite score. Definitely Oscar nomination worthy, but I think that the Slumdog Millionaire sountrack was far more innovative and deserves its winning title. Seems to be a bit derivative, as it reminds me of Schindler's list, The Village, The Pianist, etc. Could have been a bit more creative, but an absolutely marvelous score non the less. The movie was very well done as well and I would have like to see it nominated for more awards.

This album is very well written. I would reccommend buying it. I can't say the movie because I haven't seen it but this album is definitely good.
