  • Dusty’s swan song

This 1993 cd released in 1995 is Dusty’s last album ever. She moved to Nashville to record and during the sessions developed breast cancer which she battled and the album was shelved until she felt well enough to promote it. “Wherever Would I Be” was originally a solo side and two mixes of this duet version with Daryl Hall exist, the U.K. version isn’t as bombastic as the version found here, this song was also featured on the soundtrack “While You Were Sleeping” but relegated to the final credits of the film, no one heard it. “Where Is A Woman To Go” features such an emotional performance it’s almost uncomfortable, “Roll Away” is a big song that finds Dusty in almost full voice. Bottom line this is a great album and what a swan song it is. This was a one off for Sony, the album performed poorly and Dusty and Sony decided to part ways. Dusty’s cancer came back with a vengeance claiming her life March 1999 but before Dusty died she recorded one more song, a minute long version of “Someone To Watch Over Me” for an insurance company television commercial, just Dusty and a piano. iTunes America has been spoon feeding us lately with Dusty albums, hopefully her entire catalog will be available stateside, it’s not to be missed.
