This album has many strong feelings. Buddy Guy as usual pulls his listeners in and gives his all. Possibly his best album. Keep on going Buddy.
  • better than clapton!

I recently attended an Eric Clapton and Stevie Winwood concert. i thought that would be the best concert ever. then just last night, i saw Buddy Guy play at Ribfest America. it was an outdoors concert, and there was hardly anybody there. now, i thought that concert would be O.K. but not as good as Clapton, but it was better than Clapton! he played with his teeth! he performed many songs from "skin deep" and it was great!
  • Mastered His Craft

This album stunned me. Went to the web site and started streaming Skin Deep's songs. Like being hit by a stun gun; shear joy, kaleidoscopic feelings, the golden heart of blues; rhythm as an invention, intention, revelation. Bowing low in praise is not appropriate enough. You did it big guy. You made us so happy and mighty; thank you! Still not recovered, and don’t ever want to be. He has become a Master of music: perfect, american music.

Like Hendrix once said "I believe heaven is sitting at Buddy Guy's feet and listening to him play the blues". Great CD, with some great guest artists. Track 10 is my favorite. If you like the blues, this is a great album to add to your collection. You will not be let down.

Buddy nails it on this album. Scorching, rocking, roots music. A masterpiece! Thank you Buddy and friends!

I'm floored by this album. If you like good, hard electric blues guitar, it doesn't get much better than this. Nearly every cut is a winner, but in particular the blistering opener, "Best Damn Fool," and the slowly building and ultimately electrifying "Everytime I Sing The Blues" (featuring Eric Clapton, and ending with some of the most inspiring, raw, dirty lead guitar work I've heard in a long time) are MAJOR highlights. This guy is 71 years old? Amazing. Just amazing.
