I recently attended an Eric Clapton and Stevie Winwood concert. i thought that would be the best concert ever. then just last night, i saw Buddy Guy play at Ribfest America. it was an outdoors concert, and there was hardly anybody there. now, i thought that concert would be O.K. but not as good as Clapton, but it was better than Clapton! he played with his teeth! he performed many songs from "skin deep" and it was great!

This album stunned me. Went to the web site and started streaming Skin Deep's songs. Like being hit by a stun gun; shear joy, kaleidoscopic feelings, the golden heart of blues; rhythm as an invention, intention, revelation. Bowing low in praise is not appropriate enough. You did it big guy. You made us so happy and mighty; thank you! Still not recovered, and don’t ever want to be. He has become a Master of music: perfect, american music.

Like Hendrix once said "I believe heaven is sitting at Buddy Guy's feet and listening to him play the blues". Great CD, with some great guest artists. Track 10 is my favorite. If you like the blues, this is a great album to add to your collection. You will not be let down.

Without exception this is Buddy's finest work since Damn Right I Got The Blues. Sweet Tea was close, but even it can't compare. From the opening track "Best Damn Fool" to "Show Me The Money," and "Who's Gonna Fill Those Shoes" and "Take Out Some Insurance" this CD doesn't fail. If you buy one blues CD this year - make it Skin Deep! Thank you Buddy! Keep it up...

Been a huge fan of the man for many years! first time I saw him live I was in college! It made me understand why Jimi Hendrix said" My definition of heaven is being at Buddy Guys feet watching him play!" Or something to this effect. He is still an ever powerful performer and this new work has got a lot to offer! . Its packed full of other blues greats as well including Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi as well as great efforts by Clapton, and Reese Wayans of SRV Double Trouble Fame! Solid tunes my favorite being the Clapton Duet "Every time I sing the Blues" and the Title Track Skin Deep. My only disappointment is that he didn't use his touring band. Those kats are great players and very capable of doing what all the others here did. Ric Hall is a great Guitarist and Marty Sammons lays out way cool stuff on the Keys, not to mention the solid rhythm section!. With exception to that-its a great piece of work from a true original! Thanks Buddy!!

Another strong outing from Buddy and friends. This album captures the feeling of a live performance better than his other recent releases. His guitar is FRONT AND CENTER on this album. Playing is very strong and his guitar tone not quite as biting as other efforts. His supporting cast is top notch as well. From the underrated David Grissom to Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. If you are a fan of the blues this album is a must have.
