What is love-able about this band is that, considering they covered so many different musical cultures to the uttermost detail, everyone has a different favorite album. I'm sorry to say, however, that as much as this album is fun to listen to, it is my least favorite along with the self-titled album, "dead can dance." My two favorite is definitely "Into the Labirynth" but its debatable between "Spiritchaser" and "Spleen and Ideal" after that.

This is one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. When it first came out on vinyl there was nothing like it. You must have the entire thing and play it start to finish for the experience. Then go back and especially enjoy "Dawn of the Iconoclast", "Summoning of the Muse" and "Persephone (The Gathering of Flowers)" Having this remaster on mp3 is a blessing. One note: I met Brendan Perry years ago. He told me the photograph was one of a tomb he and Lisa discovered in Paris, in the Pere Lachasie cemetary where Jim Morrison is burried. What a lovely album cover!

Dead Can Dance is one of my all-time favorites because of the incredible range of musical ideas and the transcendant emotional impact. Goth music would be powerful enough even without the soaring sonic passages of DCD. I really can't come up with a favorite album from them: they're all so fantastically unique. My favorite track here is Cantara. Within the Realm of a Dying Sun is easily as enjoyable to me as The Serpent's Egg, Spleen and Ideal, Aion, or others. Essential for people who like music with impact, texture, and flow.

This was the first album I had heard by Dead Can Dance and still one of my favorites. Any time im asked what album a friend should buy that has never heard Dead Can Dance I point them to this one.

I have bought a lot of 4AD stuff over the years. This album is very overproduced, but really, really cool. Also check out the first two This Mortal Coil albums, and the DCD first album.

This ablum, along with the self titled "Dead Can Dance", are the two DCD albums that should be in your music library.
