It's good to see someone who has been in the business so long, she looks wonderful. For a woman who is close to her 70's .......keep up the good work, any Dionne fan would love!

  • What's happened to her Voice?

The beautiful, 'perfectly airbrushed back to age 49' photograph of Ms. Warwick on the cover of this CD certainly is an eye-catcher, but upon listening to this new recording, I'm convinced that Ms. Warwick's voice is totally shot. While the production values are much higher than on her last CD where she revisited her old hits for the umpteenth time(didn't anyone in her camp have the guts to tell her ENOUGH! STOP THE MADNESS!!!?), Dionne's voice sounds road-weary and lazy, and the signature rasp that's been her trademark, now sounds more like she's got a bad cold, or a frog in her throat. On 'Rise, Shine and Give God the Glory', Warwick attempts to unleash some power, but only a shaky uneven timbre of what was once a perfect vibrato is emitted. Lovable ol' Shirley Ceasar, in her twilight years, could sing circles around her on any of these tunes. Warwick needs to quit her decades long love affair with cigarettess, which has completely ruined her voice. Interestingly, this release is on Rhino, a subsidiary of Warner Music Grp. She recorded 5 albums for Warner in the 70s that, save for one song "Then Came You", went nowhere. It's really strange, somewhat ominous, that she's decided to return to a branch of the Warner Corporate umbrella. She must have been desperate. What was WMG President Edgar Bronfmann thinking?

Dionne returns with her best album in ages. Her voice is better than ever. Don't bother listening to the haters. They don't even own the CD. This is Dionne at her finest! If you love Dionne Warwick and spiritual music, you'll love this CD. Download it today; you won't regret it!

Ok...so this isn't the Dionne of the '60s...hell, it's not the Dionne of the '80s, but she uses what she has effectively without a lot of fluff...so you have to commend her for her work. I have no particular track that is better than the other because they are all worthy of listening. Thank you Ms. Warwick for another fine production!

A beautiful, soulful and spiritual collection of traditional hymns and contemporary inspirational ballads. My favorites are "I'm Going Up" with BeBe Winans, and of course "Rise, Shine and Give God the Glory"; both are just so beautiful and uplifting. A must have!
