No question that this album is a iconic classic but the true underrated gem on this album is “Close to Me”. Just listen to the breakdown from 3:48 on and tell me I’m wrong. Will literally make your eyes water….

To be honest I was in the midst of marketing the phenomenon we knew as “Whitney”! Of course being a music lover all of my life, I was and still are aware of almost every aspect of popular music. (Being mentored by the iconic Clive Davis, during every weekly Marketing Luncheon, Clive requires his senior staff to be fully aware of the competition. Clive, just like the great Berry Gordy, is keenly informed about “what’s going on in music’. Every week, he has one of his A&R reps make a compilation of all new singles that gets added at Top 40 radio. I am not certain if the same interest is applied to R&B/Hip Hop, Adult Contemporary, Rock and/or Country). Therefore, though I knew about Michel’le, she was not a big factor at Top 40. However, I did watch the 2016-17 reality series featuring Michel’le. Her life story proved intriguing. On that series, I was finally exposed to her music, especially snippets of the “Something in My Heart” video. The song began to grow on me. Here it is 2018, that song/video continues to invade my musical senses. The recent episode of “Unsung” sealed the deal and I ordered the CD from, (well that isn’t appropriate to say here). I’m not disappointed and it’s like a new album for me. (That first iTunes review is perplexing and hard to comprehend). As it is sometimes with great music, I relate to the lyrics and the music does not sound dated. I look forward to her forthcoming, long awaited follow-up. But for now, her self-titled debut is more than sensational and worth the experience.

This does not include the song introduction. Seems like these songs are from somebody’s personal unprofessional music collection 😡😡😡😡

Why are people saying that you are singing out of tune even though she was like so not. Anyhoo you are so awesome and talented singer. My favorite song is Something in my heart. It was so beautiful and I love the solo every song at least has one solo. I watched Surviving Comton it was good and sad.

This song came out when I was born!! I love it, even to this very day! You Rock girl! I'm sorry you had to endure so much while trying to begin your career. However, your voice, and your story will do so much for millions everywhere. Thank you Michel'le.
