    Whatever you do, don't buy this! It's a terrible loose interpretation of Don Giovanni. You would think because it is played on period instruments that it would be more "authentic." It isn't, in fact get John Elliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists' Don Giovanni...it is a perfect interpretation on period instruments. Don Giovanni, on this recording sounds like it is sung by a tenor, even though it is a baritone role. He doesn't sound seductive, he sounds like some conservatory drop out. The supporting cast leaves something to be desired. HORRIBLE!

    I have almost all the Don Giovanni on CDs and this is so far the best. Jacobs, as he did in his Nozze di Figaro, really knows how to do this, in his particular style, which is marvelous. I listened to his Figaro one year straight and hope to do the same with this
