  • Pretty good Job

It’s hard to follow up contraband, let’s just clear that up. But I gotta say, this was pretty good. It definitely wasn’t as strong, but it had some great points. She builds quick machines was a nice tip of the hat to Scott Weiland’s past in grunge, and has a simple yet sturdy and strong riff. Let it roll had good hard and crazy riffs that made it a great opener. The rest of the album it seems like VR mellowed out just a tiny bit. But I can’t say anything bad about any of them. Loved gravedancer, what an amazing ballad. Terribly underrated. Everything else wasn’t as strong, except I will give shout outs to for a brother, get out the door, and the last fight. All around pretty good sophomore album. Velvet Revolver has not disappointed. Great job guys, and Rest In Peace, Scott.

Of all the "Supergroups" to form in last 3 decades or so there are only two in my opinion that have been truly great. Velvet Revolver and Mad Season. Tragically, however for similar reasons (drug issues mainly) these merged supersonic powerhouses could not last. This may be for the best however. By the time Mad Season came into view Layne was drowning so deep in his addictions that it seemed the greatness of the music came from his own suffering and, by that time I believe he knew he was dying. And then there is Velvet Revolver. Put the attitude and straight - ahead rock of GNR with the frontman of STP you couldn't take your eyes off of - Scott Weiland. Though it has always been argued as to why VR broke up it is fairly obvious there was a division between the GNR guys and Scott. Ever the showman Mr. Weiland has always been a chameleon like frontman, transforming himself into whatever the music called for at any chosen moment. Then recently when I discovered STP had fired Scott, though at the time I write this review there are still no real specifics. I love both VR releases, though I feel Libertad is a stronger release. And the self-titled final release of STP is by far one their best records. I wish for good things for all these musicians. Slash and Duff and Matt doing their own things, and Scott apparently touring with the "Wildabouts" which I know little of yet. I have not given up on Mr. Weiland to endure as a musician/vocalist. And as a sidenote, to Layne and the other Mad Season members, Above has helped lift me up and give me hope with my own personal demons. Above will remain a staple in my music collection forever as will anything with Scott Weiland in it(except maybe the Christmas album) - Critter Kane :) over and out

My three favorite albums from the past decade have been the Stones "A Bigger Bang", the Raconteurs "Consolers of the Lonely" and this one from Velvet Revoler. Buy all three of these albums please. I liked Libertad a lot more than their first album, its just pure rock and roll and its fantastic.
