All of these performers albums are as good as ancient music gets. This one is rather unexpected because, although the music is, in some cases, 500 years old, what I've heard sounds surprisingly modern. The folias antiguas, although an authentic musical historian's performance of early music proclaiming its "ancientness," might pass for a modern new-age, world-music fusion performer. Kind of makes you think about the origins of modern music and the idea that there is, perhaps, nothing new under the sun.
