Another of my favorite Dolly albums of all time. Dolly's vocals shine throughout, especially on the hit single, Starting Over Again. A perfect combunation of country and adult contemporary pop music. And although it is true Dolly herself wrote none of these songs, they are very good songs Dolly truly makes sound her own. Slick production and excellent musicianship throughout this exceptional effort. Also, one of Dolly's greatest album covers!

I first started to really like Dolly Parton's music back in late 1977 when she was getting lots of radio play with her first huge country/pop crossover hit "Here You Come Again". Although she had a string of country hits going back 10 years prior to "Here You Come Again", I always preferred her more pop sounding songs over her more traditional country music. "Dolly, Dolly, Dolly" is one of her best pop albums. I bought it on 33 RPM back when it originally came out in 1980. There are many surprisingly good uptempo pop songs and pop ballads on this album. The better uptempo (faster paced) songs include "Same Old Fool" (which I just downloaded), "Fool for Your Love", "You're the Only One I Ever Needed", and the surpisingly hard-rocking "Packin' It Up". The better ballads include the lovely (purely pop sounding) "I Knew You When", and "Say Goodnight". Also nice are the two country singles (and big country hits in their day) "Starting Over Again" (written by disco's Donna Summer) and Dolly's remake of "Old Flames". Anyone interested in Dolly's new 2007 single "Better Get to Livin'" will probably enjoy this album.

Okay, although there is not one Dolly original and Dolly Dolly Dolly has one or two mildly cheesy pop/rock tracks, overall this album is excellent, if only for the sweet voice singing the tunes. My mom had this album before I became a Parton fan after seeing 9 to 5 (in 1980) - it brings back some great memories. Long overdue for any longtime Dolly fan - aside from the country hits, Old Flames and the excellent Starting Over Again, I Knew You When,Say Goodnight, Fool for Your Love, and the funky Sweet Agony is a great example of Miss Dolly's pop years. If you are a new Dolly fan - check this out. It's great!

While not one of Dolly's best, it is still a must for any Dolly fan. It has a much different sound to it then any other Parton album. She had 2 big hits from it "Starting over again" and "Old Flames...". Other highlights include "Even a fool would let go" and "You're the only...".
