tight interplay in a live setting

This is one of the first jazz albums to really catch my ears. The interplay is really great between the musicians. At the time, I thought that they were going really "far out." Now that I've listened to a lot more jazz, I can hear that Marsalis' group was really "tight" with their interplay. They will get into a polyrhythmic kind of thing, but then everyone lines up at the beginning of the chorus and they start something else, so they never really go "out there" in polyrhythm-land for too long. Very skilled playing overall, and it is a joy to listen to. I'll give it 5 stars
