i am happy to know about squarepusher and his music is definitely eye-opening. ultravisitor to me has moments but is not extremely consistent and seems at times a little unfocused. for those who liked this album i would highly suggest Feed Me Weird Things which i think is possibly his best album. i don't believe itunes has it and it is from the mid 90's so it is early stuff for him. some key songs are theme from ernest borgnine, squarepusher theme, and tundra.
  • This is the real deal.

I have been out searching for good music that I know I won't hear on the radio, and I stumbled across this gem of an album. If Steinbolt doesn't convince you to get this album, nothing will.

The album is good overall, but I really like lambic 9 Poetry the most; the song has structure, chaos, progression and resolution in six minutes and fifty-five seconds.

An incredibly complex album that trans-mutates so many different styles together and successfuly deconstructs them into hectic rythims, jarring melody shifts, and simply beautiful soundscapes. Squarepusher seems to be working tword some kind of new elecrtonic music/art genre. Lambic 9 Poetry is quite possibly my favorite song ever. It emotes so much feeling, I feel he is a truely talented artist.

Some have said this album is too long, or borrows too much from the past. I would say they have forgotten the meaning of the word "EPIC": a long poem, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures... (dictionarywiki). Every artist borrows from both their past and present experiences, and in this sense Ultravisitor is indeed legendary. This opus brings to the forefront of our collective consciousness the sound medium that is Squarepusher. Tom Jenkinson lives beyond our time...

Worthy of all your stereo's decibels. I personally think that this dude is under-rated, but i would attribute that to his abstract style. Wasn't Dali abstract?

This is a good introduction to Squarepusher, as the music varies between nu-jazz, jungle, and even warm guitar-only diversions. This isn't music for the radio pop crowd. Squarepusher has masterfully created this record. Everything about it is off-putting and astounding, from the production to the track sequence. The music is relatively jazzy and warm in the beginning, but becomes harder and colder, ending with the great "Every Day I Love". If you're new to SP's music, you'll probably have to listen to the record more than once to fully appreciate the complex intricacies that are in the music. I can't reccomend only a couple songs that ar good. "Ultravisitor" (the album) works best as a cohesive whole. A must buy.

This has to be one of my favorite albums ever. By far the best track would be "lambic 9 Poety" easily demonstating that IDM can and will go live.
