This is thougtht to be one of the greatest movies ever. Judy Garland did some of her best work ever in this flim. That in is self is say a lot . She was one of the best singers ever . To get more money after it's big, big opening . The did quite a hack job cutting it to bits to get more people in the the movie threathers . I only wish I had seen the full movie before the hack job. Someone I know saw it and was so wowed and kept talking about a song that was cut out (Lose that long face ) People who saw it later kept saying he was wrong that there was not such song . Yes the movie has some of the cut scenes . Some stills witch is great, but not the same . At lest this is the whole thing. A real gem . If you don't know Judy , hear her at her best . If you do you will love this if you don't know it . This is a buy for anyone who loves a great voice .

The fact that Judy lost that Oscar to Grace Kelly in 1954 still bothers really bothers me. I wasn't a big fan of either of them when I saw both movies, and still thought Judy was exceptional in it. Aside from the great acting, the music is incredible. Great score written by great composers. My favorite aside from The Man That Got Away, is the Born In A Trunk Medley. I wish Someone For Me was on here.
Where is the singing?

I don't even hear Judy Garlands wonderful voice on the track entitled The Man That Got Away. Shameful.
Incredible movie and performance....

And of course Judy Garland was robbed of the Oscar (tm) that year, and Warners chopped this movie up to show it more times a day, but there is no denying the magnificent performance and the amazing Harold Arlen songs. The sound quality of this recording on iTunes is not so good -- sounds like someone recorded it off their tv or something. I wonder if the master tapes of this exist somewhere? That would be good to find.
Very interesting...

This album is a mix of Judy Garland singing and the background score of the film. They are both are an amazing snapshot to such an amazing time in American entertainment history. Judy Garland and the cast are stunning in the film and her voice is awe inspiring. The music on this disc is an example of the wonderful planning that studios did for their musicals. The best people in the business at this time worked on this picture. The background scoring pieces are beautiful. This is a must have for those that appreciate fine film music.
