So many great memories skew my rating for sure, but I have loved this album since I bought it in 1976 on 8 track. My title says it all.

I love this album, it is full of classics but lt's the other tracks that make it great. ABLSOLUTELY NO FILLERS, JUST PLAIN OLD CHARLIE DANIELS. My favorites are Georgia, the south's gonna do it again, and Orange blossom special.

To hear this album again is going back in time to before Charile released "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" Charlie is a great songwriter AND a great musician. It gets overshadowed by his mega hit. I started loving Charlie when I heard Long Haired Country Boy and Georgia. For me the rest is just gravy. This album, released in 1974, this is one of the defining albums of the Southern Rock genre. Par equivalent to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Prounouced. Rock On Charlie!!

Track #8 is reason enough to spend the money on this album. Sadly when people think of Charlie Daniels they associate him with the fiddle and devil went down to Georgia. While he is an excelent fiddle player I would rather hear him on a LesPaul. This album covers it all from southwestern track#1 anthem#2 & #6 Allman Bros. style jam #8 and fiddle #9. When he busts into No place to go you can hear it in his voice he is giving all he's got!
  • A little overrated...

Sure, there are some good cuts, actually 4 of the songs are good-1,3,4, and 6. I can't judge 8, cuz I didn't wanna spend extra money on it, but the most of the others aren't so good. Long Haired Country Boy is not that great, Feeling Free has horribly clashing harmonies, and that New York City song is just strange. The rendition of Orange Blossom Special is only average. For really good CDB, listen to Saddle Tramp. That is a better album.
  • CLASSIC CDB
