This album blew my mind. After hearing the last 3 albums(Go Plastic, Do You Know Squarepusher, and, to some extent, Ultravisitor) I was not expecting this record at all. Go Plastic and DYNS were both experiments in how extreme one can push drill'n'bass(with none of the trademark basswork that makes the 'Pusher so awesome); Ultravisitor was more a "return to form", so to speak, with lots of bass experimenting, and a lot less skittery insanity. So, imagine my surprise when, comparing it to those 3 albums, I hear an album full of jazz funk, ambient insanity, and melodic drums("Plotinus" vaguely recalls 1996's "Port Rhombus"). An absolute stunner from the funky "Hellow Meow" to the emotionally-tinged "Circlewave 2"(a worthy follow-up to its namesake) to "The Modern Bass Guitar", which I defy anyone not to go insane to(it lowers your IQ at the same time as making you smarter). "Theme from Sprite" is soft jazz at its cheesy best; "Planitarium" is another Amen break track that makes wonderful use of it; "Rotate Electrolyte" is quite possibly the best track here; wonderful melody over the 'Pusher's trademark skittering breaks. "Vacuum Garden" is the only track that feels out of place; a piece of ambient weirdness(although it segues perfectly into "Circlewave 2"). All in all, an absolute kickass record from the man who defined "Un-Genre-able". Also recommended, the "Welcome to Europe" single, featuring 2 unreleased tracks...

IDM (which isn't very intelligent) and drum n bass were totally awesome in the nineties when I was a young tennager, now they're just annoying, played out, and done to death. There's only so much seizure inducing, cheap, blippity blop, bang bing bong bing banging you can take if you are a normal person. I have no attention span for lazy "avant garde", "intelligent", noodling like this. Squarepusher ceased to exist for me after 'Big Loada".
  • Amazing.

This is a great, great album. I was stunned, more than a minute after it was over. Just. Speechless. Great.

Squarepusher is one of the best electronic artists out there and this release doesn't dissapoint. It's up and down, with many different styles, but they all fit as a cohesive whole. Plus, considering that he dabbles in many different styles, anything from jazz to ambient to hardcore drill and bass, it fits the bill nicely. I don't love every track on here...the last song, "Orient Orange", gets a little dull, but there's nothing I dislike. And the highlights blow my mind apart - download "The Modern Bass Guitar", which is so brilliantly produced it will warp your brain, and "Welcome to Europe", which is similar but very catchy, as is "Hello Meow". Overall, a great record. But I'd recommend downloading the whole thing, putting on a pair of really good headphones, kicking back when you're alone, and listening from beginning to end. As with all good electronic music, it will take you on a wonderful journey to places you've never been.
  • Another strange record for the collection

I started off with Go Plastic by squarepusher... my old bass teacher lent it to me after I expressed an interested in DnB music back in 2004. That cd freaked me out.. but I loved it, and found myself sitting on a subway completly oblivious to the world around me, submerged in the sounds and obsessivly edited drum tracks. That cd to me, was musical, rythmical and over all really creepy. After Go plastic, I bought one of his earlier records... which I ended up hating. I quickly realized that everyone of his cds was like a whole new artist. Every cd was unique and had its own theme and genre, which made me appreciate Mr. Pusher even more. Anyways... after 3 years of not really likeing anything as much as Go Plastic, "Hello Everything" came out and I was finally able to bury myself into a new cd or squarepusher. This cd truely is a combination of almost all of the types of music Tom has put out over the years... which makes me love some of it, and not really care much about other parts. As a jazz bassist and musician.. this cd really has a good amount of playing to really enjoy. This guys bass playing really is phenominal and tight as hell. His synth sounds that go through his bass signal are really inspiring and completely innovative. I must admit this whole cd is very low-key.. especially compared to some of his past releasees.. but it is also moody and a pleasure to get into. It oozes musicality and melody, which really makes it sick. The only thing I hate is the 7 minutes of pure noise on this album... kind of a waste of time for someone like me. Enjoy!

This isn't really anything ground breaking. Some of the tracks are nice like "Hello Meow" and "Welcome to Europe". But some of them just leave me thinking, "hasn't this already been done 100000 times before?" Tracks like Plotinus in particular sound like something Richard James put out like 15 years ago now... In general its a decent album, but if you're looking for something new and exciting, keep looking...

Best songs by this artist are "Iambic 5 Poetry" and "Good Night Jade." Where the hell are they? Same problem with Aphex Twin's catalogue.
  • Overall, I may like this even better than Ultravisitor

IMO, I found "Hello Everything" more consistently enjoyable than Ultravisitor, which does have several excellent tracks on it, too, though I did end up skipping some of the noisier stuff there. As suggested from the cover the sound here is much brighter than that of Ultravisitor (while, in it's electro-to-acoustic ratio it seems quite similar), it's really a departaure from his darker and sometimes harshly metallic sounding stuff. Oh, and some of the reviews here are just inane: did Aphex do this 8 years ago? How could one have the mental capacity to both sit upright and type on a keyboard and make an inexplicable statement like that? People amaze me sometimes.
