I have my suspicions that the remix edits offered on this release aren't necessarily the series of offerings that the Queen of Pop herself had intended to share with fans as a companion piece to the hit album that inspired them. Although, as a fan, I'm grateful for any new offerings, the remix reworks here are familiar to those of us who shuffled to the dance floors in the waning days of the NYC club scene. These tracks were among the most inspired movements that got the crowd going, and undoubtedly ranked as the biggest club records of the era. Given the remixes that were the cornerstone of Madonna's recent "greatest hits" package "Finally Enough Love," it would have been epic to issue the full-length club versions rather than the edits. It would have made the memory of the club era all that much more electrically charged, and a bundle that would have been a hit at the the price point. Still, if marks a moment in Madonna's remarkable career of profound excellence.
