First, I am a Prince fanatic and have been since the Controversy days (when I was like 12). And though I understand Diamonds And Pearls was one of Prince's most successful albums, I was really disappointed that this was the next remastered re-release in the pipeline. After Purple Rain, 1999 and Sign O' The Times I was hoping for Dirty Mind, Parade, even Around The World In A Day or Controversy would be awesome, especially considering the amount of daring music he was making during that time. Diamonds And Pearls has some great songs, mainly Gett Off, Money Don't Matter 2 Night, Cream and Insatiable, most of the rest of the album sounds incredibly dated. And because it had so much fluff, I wasn't expecting much by way of the unreleased stuff in this collection, which to me is always the biggest thrill once these re-releases have come out. And I can say very little of those unreleased songs needed to be released as Prince put them in the vault for a reason. In fact a lot of the songs on all of the re-releases should never have been released and I'm sure Prince is looking down and fuming worse than in Purple Rain after his performance of "Darling Nikki". It does seem as though Warner Bros. and the Prince estate are just cashing in, which I get, but I ask them to remember that these remastered versions are really for the hard core fans and we deserve better than to hear stuff Prince would never have released had he lived to be 200 years old (and wouldn't that be nice). Still, any re-release is worth checking out, but please, don't make the Batman soundtrack the next one! There are so many richer albums of his to mine, even if you're just mining for gold.

I do not fully support the estate, as I do not believe his wishes would be for all of his music to be released. However, this is the one exception where I say “take all my money.” This collection is absolutely incredible and my love for him and this era is reinvigorated.

Darkside...Blood on the Sheets....unbelievable...guitar virtuosity at its finest...the rhythm section on point too...

Every track has been excellent thus far. And can’t wait for the full release!!! Please do The Gold Experience Deluxe next! Update: BUY THE DELUXE BOX SET! It’s worth every penny! The Glam Slam concert on the Blue Ray is freak’n amazing, and Prince is having an absolute blast on stage! The book is so well done, and has some really nice photos. The Estate knocks it out of the park, yet again. Sign O The Times Deluxe, Welcome 2 America Deluxe, Prince and the Revolution Live Deluxe, and now this! Thanks Prince Estate!

I kinda stopped listening to this album in regular rotation because the sound quality on the original felt dated. This remaster is exceptional!!!! Well done estate!

i’m a Prince fan and enthusiast and while i understand his estate and Warner brothers record label are trying to sell music for financial benefit i think it’s time that someone opens up Prince’s musical vault and properly releases his art to the masses

Great song. The recording or remaster sounds terrible. With modern tech you could have cleaned it up.
