When the Boss inducted U2 into the Hall of Fame, he talked about how uno, dos, tres, catorce (1, 2, 3, 14) was the correct math for rock and roll. The same can be said here: one plus one makes WAY more than two. This song is classic Mellencamp, with some added grit and heart provided by Springsteen. It has it all - an infectious melody, great guitar riffs, beautiful rhythm, and authenticity. These two giants are perfect together on this song. I can wait to hear the other two.

I didn't even need to hit the sample button; the moment I saw both names together it was akin to a nearby lightning strike. It may be wasted on anyone who hasn't experienced enough of life yet to realize that we're all penning our finite story in ink every moment, but there are those of us of a certain age that it resonates with. Sure, it evokes nostalgia and maybe the theme isn't totally original...but everyone gets a turn in life and these two voices let us know where along the path we are.
