Journey to Love

My favorite is “Complicated”. It explains how things in life can not be explained or understood so easily, sometimes a song is needed to make it more clearer. Thanks Son for allowing me to see into your heart the things that could not be seen on the inside.

David is bringing us such a groove in this album which makes it easy to ignore lyrics. You just wanna dance! But when you listen closely, it’s the lyrics that give me wings when I listen to this album. We can all see ourselves through the journey he takes us on. A beautiful expression of discovery.

You will go on a beautiful musical journey when listening to this album. The vocals, melodies, instrumentation, and lyrics are spectacular. At times, you can hear strong influences from Mariah Carey and artists like Jill Scott...fusing those influences when it comes to the musicality and choices for vocal stylings. The vibes are subtle yet grand, controlled and calculated yet raw. Complicated is the stand out track as I think it shows David’s artistry and ear for unexpected melody/key changes, coupled with Ramona Montañez, their duality is a masterpiece. My personal favorite track, however, is Laugh, which I think perfectly encapsulates how everyone should live...with eyes on the prize and our heads to the sky, as David so matter-of-factly sings. AMAZING! Bringing back the true essence of R&B!

A friend turned me on to this album and it’s the best tip I’ve gotten all year. If you’re into the R&B jams, you owe it to yourself to check this out. If you’re not swaying and finger popping in the first minute, call the soul doctor! I’ve listened to this album three times since I bought it a couple of hours ago and I’d I’m cutting this review short because I’m getting ready to listen again!!!!

I’ve known David for some time now and have always loved the sound of his voice. Every time I hear it I can only describe it as honey smoothly sliding off a spoon and into your comforting cup of tea. This album will definitely not disappoint. David’s soulful voice will have you relaxing and cuddling up next to that special person in your life.
