Solid Experimental Album

I think most of the reviews on this album are too harsh. This is an experimental album by Tenacious D, one that is based on a cartoon Jack Black drew on YouTube.
It’s classic D in so many ways: it features catchy acoustic riffs, harmonies, and over-the-top instrumentation; Dave Grohl on the drums; and song-skit track layout.
But then again, it’s not like any other D album. It’s a singular story that follows a plot, which we’ve only seen in The Pick of Destiny. But I think if you’re able to give it a listen without high expectations of its being like old albums, it’s really great. It has really catchy numbers like HOPE, MAKING LOVE, and POST-APOCALYPTO.
Still, I think this album shines brightest because of how it tackles the current political atmosphere. A lot of people don’t like their music to be political, but I think music has always become political when it’s important, as it is now.
Tenacious D has written a funny, low-brow, musically impressive, and earnest album on the dangers of climate change and racism, while genuinely advocating for hope, change, and acceptance.
I love it and love laughing to it.

Only 2 good songs on a 21 song record? YIKES! The D might be done.
I'll keep the tattoo though.
Take a hard pass on this one!

I've loved all of Tenacious D's previous albums. But this one is utterly useless. Nothing is even remotely funny about any of it and the "theme" of the whole thing is ridiculous. Save your money folks, and hope that their next effort makes up for this train wreck.

The album is about 30 minutes long, and is politically geared. The D have been poisoned by California. Like the sharks say on SharkTank...
For that reason... I’m out.
100% Political agenda

But they let this political obsession blind them from their true rock form
Save your money.

Been a fan of the D since day 1 and I’m truly embarrassed for them for putting this album out. It’s awful and anyone defending it is delusional.
